Breaking ground on a new ski trail

Editor Brandon Loomis and multimedia reporter Mike Lynch joined trail volunteers in January 2021 on a 6-mile ski trip on the Foxy Brown Ski Trail in Piseco. This video will give you a glimpse of that trip and what you’ll see along the trail.

The Foxy Brown Ski Trail is a 5.6-mile loop that starts at the Piseco Airport and goes through the woods in the Jessup River Wild Forest and West Canada Lake Wilderness. The trail has been restored in recent years by the state Department of Environmental Conservation and volunteers from the Piseco Lake Association, who led the Explorer staff on a trip along the route in January. The trail is named after a hermit who once lived in the nearby woods.
