The Peavine Swamp Ski Trail also offers three loops to explore. As we approached the first junction from the south with Loop 3 (and spur to the lean-to), we were relieved to discover someone had already broken trail. The trail signs only give distances to the junctions with the various loops, though an estimated distance for the entire Loop 3 (point to point, not including the hike to the junction at .9 miles from the Ranger School) is 2 1/4 miles. Loop 2, also known as the Christmas Tree Loop, is the longest at 4.2 miles (point to point). Loop 1, near the Route 3 Trailhead, also known as the Balanced Rock Loop is 3 miles, plus the .3 to and from the actual start of the loop.
