I’ve read Dr Halls book – it’s fantastic :). Super interesting and previously hidden part of Adirondack history. In particular, learning about the degree to which the infrastructure of the tourist industry was built by prison labor has been eye-opening. But the book focuses primarily on the how and why of so many prisons appearing in the region.
