Awesome! The recently installed DC fast chargers are a godsend. They have opened up parts of NY state that us EV drivers have been yearning for, for many years. Many of us have been driving pure EVs since 2013 and it’s been a long time coming.

It’s going to be a difficult transition to electric for many of us. At this point the cost of buying one is completely out of my reach, and since I rent and apartment there is no charging at home or anywhere close to home that I could leave the car. I have to park on the street a lot of the time. No charging at work either. That means wasting time waiting around in some gas station or parking lot to get a charge. Driving to the Adirondacks from my home would be possible, but I would have to charge up before driving home again. Waiting around someplace for a couple of hours in the middle of the winter while the car charges would be unpleasant. I doubt we want chargers at trailheads, so that will mean a trip into a town which might be out of the way. Just hard to picture how all these problems will be overcome.

Many plug in hybrids are no more expensive then a nonplugin hybrid, if they still provide the fed and state tax incentives… at least it worked out that way for me. I went with a plug in Prius hybrid and it was not much different then the cost of the regular Prius hybrid
