Skip Baker

In the summer of 2017, Ralph ‘Skip’ Baker passed away while hiking in his beloved Adirondack Mountains. Skip joined the US Air Force out of high school, and went on to become a Master Sergeant. After a 26 year career, Skip retired and spent much of his free time volunteering at the Equicenter in Honeoye Falls NY. While there he helped develop the ‘Heroes and Horses’ therapy program. ‘Heroes and Horses’ exists to help Veterans deal with physical and emotional trauma caused by the often excruciating conditions that those who serve our country face. Once Skip started hiking in the High Peaks, he reveled in his second passion. In his role with the Equicenter, and as part of the Adirondack hiking community, Skip made many friends and touched many souls. Our goal is to establish this annual hike so that we always remember Skip, and in order to raise funds for such an admirable program that was close to his heart. Join a hike if you like, or you can simply donate to the cause. For those in the area that day, TMax-n-Topo’s will host a get-together afterwards with some food and goodies. We can raise a glass and remember our good friend, and more importantly, a decent man.

Join us after 5 PM for food, fun, & remembrances at:
TMax-n-Topo’s Hostel
5046 Cascade Rd
