Sherburne Abbott, Professor of Sustainability Science and Policy at Syracuse University and former Senior Science Advisor to President Barack Obama, will keynote the 25th Annual Conference on the Adirondacks being held May 24 and 25 at the Conference Center at Lake Placid. Abbott will discuss her research and teaching interests which lie at the interface of science and society, principally on issues related to climate change, energy and sustainability.
This day and a half event will also feature presentations on ecological development in the Adirondacks, private forestland management, social issues in the region, and the impacts of road salt on water quality. Nina Schoch will receive the 2018 Elizabeth Thorndike Adirondack Achievement Award for her research, outreach, and conservation of Adirondack Loons and wildlife in the region.
