In the November/December issue of the Adirondack Explorer, Phil Terrie reviews Sally E. Svenson’s latest book “Blacks in the Adirondacks: A History.” A subject largely unexplored before now, Svenson’s book tells the stories of blacks who settled in or passed through the Adirondack Park in the 100 years between 1850 and 1950. The book includes an Afterword by Alice Paden Green, who grew up in Witherbee, and is the executive director of the Center for Law and Justice in Albany.
