Your editorial on the Adirondack Club and Resort [July/August 2011] was balanced and realistic. I applaud you for taking a stand that is contrary to the opinion of many Tupper Lake residents.
Aside from the issue of economic sustainability of the proposed project, which seems dubious at best, my primary concern is the negative impact the project will have on Lake Simon and the surrounding watershed. Although hardly pristine wilderness, the area retains enough of a wild feeling to make it well worth preserving. Perhaps if others experienced Lake Simon, Tupper Lake, and the Raquette River the way I have, they would think differently about this project. I do not oppose the portions of the project that seek to revitalize the Big Tupper ski resort, but I am against the development of “Great Camp” lots along Lake Simon.
