On September 20, I hiked the 3,169-foot Catamount Mountain in the northern Adirondacks. Overall, the hike is 3.6 miles. From the summit, you can see the Saranac River, including Union Falls Pond. Taylor Pond and Silver Lake are also visible. In the other direction, you can see Whiteface. The above photos are from that hike.

This is one summit I missed climbing when I was able. At the time, the trailhead access was a little squirrely, so it just never got on my priority list. Everyone enjoys hiking ridges above treeline. Thanks for the pix!
It’s probably good to point out that the steep sections are challenging and exposed. Not a good hike for children or people who aren’t comfortable scrambling up steep rocks.
