Ski conditions are excellent in the Adirondacks right now, whether you’re hitting the backcountry, groomed trails, or Alpine resorts.
December was a slow month for skiing but things picked up in January and have really gotten good in recent weeks with a number of snowfalls.
If you’re looking for places to go, contributing writer Sierra McGivney has compiled a list of trips from our archives. The trips include visits to cross-country ski venues, which require fees. Two of these articles include trips just outside ski centers.
Alpine conditions are also good now, and resorts are opening up more trails every day. The snowpack is good and cold conditions have allowed them to make snow. You can see some photos from Gore Mountain earlier this week by checking out this short column I did about my photo assignment there.
Whatever you do, make sure you’re prepared. Temperatures have been hovering in the single digits or less in recent days, and the cold spell looks like it will continue as least a couple of more days.
