The Cuomo administration’s recent announcement of $67 million in economic development grants for the greater Capital Region includes funding for sewer improvements along Lake George.
The Town of Bolton will get $1 million to improve its wastewater treatment plant, main pump station and wastewater collection system, according to the Department of Economic Development.
The year-end announcement follows another for northern New York that will aid water treatment around Lake Champlain and other Adirondack waters.
“This project will reduce the amount of nutrients released into the Lake George watershed, helping to protect the lake from harmful algae blooms,” the department said.
Another approval intended to help protect Lake George from sewage was more than $650,000 for the Town of Lake George to consolidate two wastewater pump stations, upgrade one and install pipes.
For the Town of Hague, the department approved $230,000 to install new control systems at two wastewater pump stations.
Also approved was $100,000 for Lake George Village to complete an engineering report on infiltration sources in its sanitary sewer system.
Among other awards, a program intended to prevent and control invasive species in Schroon Lake by Warren County and the towns of Horicon, Chester and Schroon was approved for $290,000.
A $600,000 grant for Bolton will fund Lake George waterfront improvements in Rogers Memorial Park.
The department awarded $800,000 to FrontStreet Mountain Development to help construct the 40-room Ski Bowl Mountain Inn at Gore Mountain Ski Area in North Creek.
